About Leket Israel

Leket Israel, Israel’s National Food Bank, rescues over 71 million lbs. of surplus, high-quality food annually, that otherwise would go to waste, from hundreds of farms, hotels, corporate caterers and IDF army bases. The food is distributed weekly to over 300 non-profits feeding 415,000 Israelis of all backgrounds including Holocaust survivors, families living below the poverty line, struggling immigrants, at-risk youth, and other vulnerable populations. You can learn more about Leket Israel here: leket.org/en

Update on the Crisis in Israel

While much of the country comes to a halt, Leket Israel remains steadfast in its mission: giving food to those who need it. Leket's food rescue operations have been severely impacted and disrupted by the current situation in Israel, as rescuing excess meals from IDF army bases (Leket's main source of surplus cooked meals), corporate cafeterias, caterers, and hotels have been suspended, and Leket's partner farmers are unable to safely harvest produce from the fields. Additionally, Leket has ceased all volunteering programs. With Israeli officials warning that the war may continue for several more weeks, the pressure on Leket's food supply system is only intensifying. In order to continue providing food to 415,000 people every week, Leket Israel is reactivating their emergency response model and purchasing prepared meals and fresh produce to fill the gap in supply and maintain food distribution to meet the need.  Your donation can make an immediate and profound impact.
